Nox book 2 news!

My patrons and newsletter subscribers already got this information and I want to share it with you too!

The second Nox book is already at 95K words. I'm thinking it will top at 120K. That's just my first draft...so it will be a while before it releases. Maybe March 2021 (affected by revision/edit)

The series is called Wolves Incarnate. Book two will be called Anubis (Wolves Incarnate #2 ). It's looking like there will be four books in the series.

Below is the first excerpt (unedited) I've shared from Anubis. Poor, poor Reese (lol). I will share a longer excerpt involving Luca and Nox in my Dec 7 newsletter (patrons get it sooner).

Poor, poor Reese!

Enjoy...

*names of things may change or be cut out since it’s unedited.

Excerpt

Reese poked at the chicken on the plate. His stomach threatened to retaliate. He picked up the plate. “I’m not going to eat this, and Kary said Jonathan should eat.”

Charles stood.

“Here, you can take this out to—”

“Do it yourself.” The man whisked past Reese and out the back.

“…him.”

Muffled voices came from upstairs. Movement shuffled in the other room. Jonathan’s shadow remained on the porch.

“Fine, I’ll do it myself.” Reese would just make sure to drop it on the nearest piece of furniture and make a run for it. He stood and carried the plate out to the front porch. Jonathan leaned against a post with his eyes closed. The two rocking chairs and a small table had been flattened into a pile of lumber.

Damn it. Reese inched closer and held up the plate. “Kary made you a plate of food.”

Jonathan opened his eyes. “She made that plate for you, not me.”

“No—”

Jonathan narrowed a look at Reese.

“Okay, she made the plate for me but I’m not going to eat it, so I figured it was better not to waste it, so I brought it out here.”

“Thanks.” Jonathan took a step and Reese almost dropped the plate. “Sorry, you startled me.” More like scared the shit out of him.

Jonathan kept enough space between them he had to stretch his arm out to reach the plate. He took it and Reese retreated to the safety of the doorway.

“Just so you know, I scheduled two planes. You’ll ride with Nash and the Cana. I’ll ride with the others.” He took a bite of the chicken.

“Are you sending us to a different location?”

Jonathan swallowed. “No. We’re all going to the same place.”

“Then why two planes?”

“Because you can’t get within fifty feet of me without almost passing out.”

Reese wished he could argue.

What's coming up: By the Light of Dawn by Adrienne Wilder + excerpt

By the Light of Dawn has gone through some changes. My intention was to write a novella cross-over between In the Absence of Light and The Darkest Hour (Jeff's story) and you know me...short just isn't in my wheelhouse (see what I did there?). So now we have a novel cross-over.
I suggest reading In the Absence of Light first so you get to know the main characters.

My plan is to get The Darkest Hour out before the end of the year.

Below is the excerpt that went out to newsletter subscribers last week. Join my newsletter to get early access to excerpts, cover reveals, and giveaways and pet pics :)
Join my Patreon and get even earlier access as well as artwork and the Nox graphic novel I'm drawing...and other rewards.

Since I am so bad at social media (despite the wonderful help of all my author and reader friends) I will have a give giveaway of four $25 amazon gift cards. You'll get entries by sharing the release. Details coming soon.

By the Light of Dawn (excerpt below) is now up for pre-order at a discounted price of $2.99. It will go up to $3.99 on October 15.

This is a follow up to the novel In the Absence of Light.

A handmade sailboat helped bring Morgan back to Grant but he never imagined they would put it in the water.

Then Morgan sees something in the light that sets Grant on a mission to get them to the middle of the ocean. An unknown destination they have to be at when the sun rises.

It’s important enough that Morgan is willing to leave Durstrand. Important enough that he’ll face the challenges of his autism.

So important, it could even be a matter of life and death.

By The Light of Dawn happens at the same time The Darkest Hour (Jeff’s story) takes place and contains mild spoilers as well as teasers. The plot points revealed are the same ones that were revealed at the end of In the Absence of Light.

EXCERPT
Durstrand: a little town in the middle of nowhere-deep-south, with a place called Toolies. Restaurant by day, bar by night, a single mechanic shop, hardware store, and a drive-in theatre set in the middle of a cow pasture, where they held a town cookout once a year to eat said cows.

And I hated to admit it but apparently letting the cows watch movies did make them taste better.

Durstrand was where I escaped to, where I never planned to stay until I fell in love with one of the most unique people in the world.

Morgan Kade.

The bacon grease popped and kissed the side of my hand. “Damnit.” You’d think I’d learn. Bacon always fought back, particularly early in the morning, when you were still too sleep fogged to defend yourself.

“Turn down the stove and that won’t happen.”
Morgan whisked through the kitchen and out the back door.

Our yellow lab right on his heels. His thick tail knocking the chairs aside, whacking the walls, then the doorway.

Dog, who after almost six months of living with us, still didn’t have a real name. No matter what I suggested, it didn’t fit.

Dog fit because he was a dog and until he was something else, he’d continue to be Dog.

I glared in Morgan’s direction. And just for spite, I didn’t turn down the heat.

I flipped the bacon, cracked the eggs, they sizzled in a second skillet on a back burner.

The bacon popped, and the goddamned droplet hit my right nipple. “Fuck.”

The back door opened, Morgan zipped through the kitchen. “Told you to turn it down, or you could wear a long—” Gone again. The thump, thump of a perpetual happy lab puppy right behind him. Although Dog wasn’t very puppy in appearance. In the past several months he’d gone from a fat-bellied-rolly-polly into a wall of muscle and mass, with jowls that could soak up a gallon of water and redeposit it onto your lap.

Or face.

A high-pitched beep came from somewhere outside. I’d heard the sound a million times during my years in Chicago working and living in a shipping yard. My life before Durstrand. My life before Morgan Kade. A time when my days were filled with dodging the FBI and designing ways to smuggle high-dollar goods, stolen art, cars, jewelry, across the ocean or just to squirrel them away for some rich person who didn’t want to pay the taxman.

I don’t know why they bothered. It wasn’t like I was cheap.

Honestly, I think cheating Uncle Sam gave them some sort of perverse pleasure. Not that I blame them.

The back-up warning grew louder. I pushed aside the curtain over the sink. A flatbed truck made its way in reverse up the long driveway. I know damn well they weren’t coming for the pickup truck. It was not only paid for, it wasn’t worth a car payment.

Oh, I could have afforded a new car without payments even, but there were some things more important than money that brought me happiness no luxury ever could.

Said happiness raced past again, out the back door.

This time Dog stopped and cocked his head at me.

"What?”

Dog wagged his tail.

The truck engine rumbled, and the dog vanished, followed by the screen door slapping the frame.

I parted the curtain again. I was wrong. It wasn’t the standard flatbed truck. A series of ridges created a cradle to keep its load from tilting. A crane rigged with steel cable and pullies lay folded at the edge. I’d seen larger versions transporting yachts at various docks all over the world.

While this truck had all the bells and whistles used for million-dollar vessels, it wouldn’t have been able to haul anything more than thirty-feet.

The sailboat Morgan built was exactly twenty-five and a half.

Thanks for reading and helping me keep doing what I love! I'm not on social media often but I love hearing and talking to readers so you can contact me in any way and I'll respond :)

How to help spread the word about Sicarii -- book tours

Want to help promote Sicarii? I could use your help :)

I am running a book tour with Silver Dagger Book Tours May 3 - June 3. Anyone with a blog, FB page, Instagram, Tumblr (or however you share book love) can join the tour. You don't even have to review the book. You can just post the tour spotlight info on the day you sign up for. If you are reading Sicarii and plan on writing a review you can do that for the tour too.

You guys did an awesome job getting the word out about Nox and it was one of my best-selling books.

Thank you from the bottom of my gay heart (and I am working on Nox II).

Sign up for the tour here:

Sharon also book a tour with Gay Book Promotions (they've helped with other book tours for me). It won't start till May 18 if you would rather wait for that tour :)

If you don't want to officially join a tour but still want to help, every review and mention on your social media helps. The book releases April 28 and there will be a social media blitz through Bewitching Book Tours that day (Yes, Sharon has been a busy assistant). So if you've been waiting to buy Sicarii or post a review, that is the day to do it.

Reader Karen Edwards made this for me. You can use it to share too.

I know I don't post much but there are no words for how thankful I am for every reader. Feel free to contact me anytime. I'll answer questions...just won't give out any spoilers! lol

What's going on and next book update + giveaway

I'm still here. I haven't been active online recently. I thought I would explain why. Nothing horrible, I promise.

I usually work on four or five books at a time. If I get stuck on a plot point in one book, I work on another till I figure out how to fix it. It could be days, weeks, or months before I figure out the problem. Sometimes I scrap most of a book and start again. I wish I could work on one book from start to finish like most writers, but my brain doesn't work that way.

When I finally finish the first draft, it is time to make revisions. I try to stick with the same book during the revision process so I can get it to my editors and then to you. This is when I go into my proverbial dragon's den and disappear online.

For the last two months, I've been revising a book that might be the death of me. Six years ago (Yes! Six years), I started writing Sicari, a romantic suspense. One of the main characters, Marcel, has turned out to be the most challenging character I have ever written. He is a sociopath, and it is exhausting being in his head. He isn't one of the romantic interests, but everything revolves around Marcel.

But I am so close to the end of my revisions! Sicari is going to be 150K! My editor has been circling me in a predatory manner for weeks, waiting...

So, that's where I've been. When I hand Sicari over to the editors, I will be free-ish...cause edits. But I will emerge from my den, bask in the sun and get other things done!

Thank you to all my patrons. I know I haven't been active, and only managing update Chimera Kittens and Bittersweet. I have signed all the books and swag that everyone has been waiting for. Unfortunately, the post offices are slammed right now. Sharon is putting the packages together and addressing them and hopes to mail them the last week of December. I've added extra stuff to make up for the delay.

As soon as I finish Sicari, I will jump back into Nox - book 2, The Darkest Night - Jeff's story, and some other surprises.

Thank you to everyone who has read my books, joined my patron, or left a review. Even though I'm in my dragon den, I always have time to respond to readers' questions. You can email me directly or tag me in Adrienne's Darkside of the Rainbow Facebook group.

Puppy news!

In about 8 weeks I will be getting a German Shepard puppy to start training as a service dog. Pello is getting a little age on him and will have to retire to couch potato in a few years. I'll be sharing the occasional pictures/videos in my newsletter.

This is just coincidence, but MinionS is getting her empty nest dog (her youngest goes to college this fall). A Standard Poodle from the same breeder I got mine from. The litter is due at the end of May. I'm sure she will share pics too.

Good news and the Bound Gods graphic novel

Hey! Adrienne's assistant here. Adrienne posted this over on the Bound Gods Patreon page. A lot of great stuff coming...like a Bound Gods graphic novel!! Can you imagine the artwork? *fans self*
I want to let you there is enough membership now for me to put up at least two pages a month because I am doing my best to meet pledges dollar for dollar. The guy I am interviewing for the Bound Gods comic is very stoked. I just have to make sure he can pull off the character drawings as this seems to be the hardest for EVERYONE I have interviewed (over the past year) for this project. He's also very, very excited to do as many pages as possible---I told him careful what he wishes for. This means, if he gets the job, every penny on Patreon will go to him to keep him busy. I'd love, love, LOVE to see 4+ pages a month. I'd love to see enough, on the first annual birthday of this page, to put to bed the first full graphic novel to send out to patrons.

You have given so much, and I am overwhelmed by how generous you have been. I'm hoping it won't be too much to ask for you to spread the word. That, in my experience, has been the GREATEST way to get a project out, book or comic, where people can see it. There are folks out there who are not big novel readers (Shocking, I know) but they love yaoi comics or comics in general and would never know this is here without you. See, Patreon hides any page with adult content. You do NOT come up on searches, you do NOT come up on direct lookups with the name of the page or author. The Bound Gods site is basically in the proverbial basement behind a locked door with some big scary chick (chick, cause man, have you ever seen a woman fight, they're terrifying) guarding the door. And she has nine-inch steel razor nails and is looking to break one off in your face. Yup, that's how hidden we are. My only way to get things out is by hitting social media and screaming at the top of my lungs--and I am bad at that--really bad. Plus, when you toot your own horn, people tend to ignore it. Unless you fart, you fart and EVERYONE notices. Anyhow, if you take 1 minute out of your day, to post two links to this site, tell them what you love, what you hate, what you hope to see in the future, I'd be eternally grateful.

Also, $5 Amazon Gift cards go out at the end of this month. If I don't have your email PLEASE send it to me so my assistant can collect your address and we can get stuff out promptly to you. I will also be doing a T-shirt design and Logo. I'm gonna start with two different ones and put up variations of those logos for you to look at and vote on. The T-shirts will be a reward for higher tier Patrons in the future, all other Patrons can purchase one at a discount as well as those who just pass through. I will also have magnets, key chains, and if you have a suggestion for something else, let me know. These will go out to other tiers. Basically, everyone will get something.

So again, wave your Bound Gods banner (maybe I should make some of those little team flags) and tell the world about what they're missing.

More naughtiness on its way, so please stand by. But don't fart, farting never wins friends. Just ask my dog.

Update on the Bound Gods series...

Stone God (Bound Gods #9)
is with the last beta reader and the ARCs have already gone out. You are going to love Marud and Jessie like you love Leo and Kaleb.

Doxie Diaries postcards
I've sent out the postcards to all my paying patrons. I have some left. If you would like a signed postcard, send me an S.A.S.E. You can email me to get my address. Make sure you send an envelope that can hold a 6x4 postcard. International postage ~$1

I'm not saying I enjoy gutting my reader's feels, but I got to admit these kinds of reviews make me smile.

Dani over at Love Bytes LGBTQ Book Reviews had this to say, about Bound Gods #6, 7, 8

You know what? I’m not even going to get up in arms with outrage. I’m not going to do it. I’m not! Because it’s not true, it’s NOT true. It can’t be true so I’m going to act like those last few pages didn’t happen and just go right into how amazing this author is. -Dani
rating – 4.5 stars

So my thoughts while reading Purgatory alternated between, “oh God poor Kaleb” “I miss Leo” “Oooh Kaleb…” “I could probably handle a Chimera” “Oh my Goodness, I don’t think I can handle a Chimera” “A cow/bull man doesn’t sound half bad.” “Damn Aaron, get it” “God, I love Taurus” “Skin the color of stone….sounds hot…I could get down with that” “What are you thinking Sonny?” “What’s wrong with you Sonny?” “Sonny, seriously get it the f*ck together!” And that’s basically all I can tell you about that. -Dani
rating – 4.5 stars

Ummm…ok. This may be the most hurt I’ve ever been after reading an Adrienne Wilder story. Eh, scratch that…My Brother’s Keeper f’d me up for months afterwards. But…but…Adrienne…why, why, why…?!?!!? So, needless to say what I wanted to happen didn’t happen. So, now I am again the poor pathetic soul I didn’t want to be….waiting…waiting…waiting…! Damn, it’s hard to love this author so friggin much. I kind of love it and hate it too. Guess that means I’m a Doxie…go figure… -Dani
rating - 4.5 stars

What's up: Postcards, Bound Gods #9, new social media accounts

-I got the first patron postcards in! Everyone who is a paying patron (any amount) as of June 1, 2018, will receive a signed postcard in the mail. I will be collecting addresses over on Patreon soon. All content is still free to anyone who visits my Patreon page but sometime in June I will introduce paid tiers too.

-A new page in the Doxie Diaries went up! It is NSFW!!!

-I am also working on some Bound Gods t-shirt to sell. I hope to get them at a very reasonable price so stay tuned!

-I got in trouble from my assistant for having a Pinterest account and not telling her...so now the link in the sidebar <G>. I post a lot of drawing tutorials but there are other surprises there too. I found a picture of what Keegan from WILD would look like if he was real!

*Sharon here*
There is an Instagram account too! It has pictures of drawing practice.
*gives Adrienne side-eye glare*

-Bound Gods #9 should release June 1, 2018. I'm still deciding on the title...The Stone Child or The Stone God. Here is the cover right now.
-I am working on Book #10 right now. Not sure when it will be done. But I am going to be giving more attention to my art. I am still trying to find an artist to help me with a graphic novel of WILD. I am happy with the artist I have hired for the Doxie Diaries and you should be seeing much more of that soon.

-That's about it for now. Subscribe by email to get all my website updates in your mailbox (link in sidebar). If you are a paying Patron, you will automatically get those updates. Otherwise, you have to got visit the site to see what's been posted :)

Stories I'm working on now.

Thought I'd let you know what books I'm working on now.

The Darkest Hour (30% done)
Jeff and Felix's story. You met Jeff in In the Absence of Light and Felix was briefly mentioned near the end. This will be a much darker story. But Jeff and Felix will have a run-in with a certain couple ;)

Bound Gods #6: Claiming (80% done)
Leo, Kaleb and Aaron's story and it will break your heart. I will put it back together though ;) They will literally go to hell (purgatory) and back. *insert evil author laugh*

Bound Gods #7: The Stone Child (80% done)
Marud and Jessie's story. Marud is a god that appeared in Bound Gods #5 Crocuta Crocuta. Jessie is a strong-headed 19-year-old doxie who has taken care of himself since he was young.

Bound Gods #8: Pandora's Heart (25% done)
Pandora and Ishtar's story. Pandora has been a reader favorite and was sent off at the end of Bound Gods #4 Reborn to live with the goddesses. Ishtar is a titan imprisoned there.

Bound Gods #10 (10% done)
Jinx and Ira are an underage god and doxie. This story is still in the planning stage.

These next three Bound Gods will be published at the same time because they all occur in the same timeline. There will be some crossing over when the characters from each story have to interact with each other. You should be able to read these three in any order you want.

Sicarii (80% done)
This is a contemporary story about Marcel, a brutal assassin. But it is not about him finding love. He manipulates two people, Ben and Jacob, who are intertwined with his life. There is also a 14-year-old boy named Sam who lives next door to Marcel. His is a coming of age story (there is no romance element to his part of the story)

I really like Marcel...but he is exhausting to write.

Sins of the Father (5% done)
Dorian and Mitch's story.
Dorian is an ex-catholic priest. His father was in the mafia and ripped off another family. The family came looking the stolen item and found Dorian and exacted revenge on him.
Mitch is an ex-police officer but quit when people found out he ran a BDSM club. He now acts as a police consultant on sex crimes.
